Nettleship

Susan Christine Nettleship, 73, of Decatur, Illinois entered the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born on October 29, 1952, in Decatur, the daughter of William J. Danner and Avis J. Allen Danner. Susan graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur and immediately began her career in banking at Citizens National Bank. Susan was a very knowledgeable and loyal employee who stayed with Citizens National Bank through many mergers and held many banking positions over the years, including the culimination of her career as Branch Manager of PNC Bank until her retirement in 2015, after 46 years of employment. She was held in high regard and well-respected by her co-workers, management and customers throughout her banking career and formed many friendships and relationships over the years.

God our Heavenly Father brought together his children, Lester Odell Nettleship and Susan Christine Danner in Holy Matrimony on September 26, 1970. They were high school sweethearts and celebrated 39 ½ years of marriage together here on Earth. They were blessed with one daughter, Megan Christine Nettleship of Decatur.

Remembering Susan with cherished memories is her daughter, Megan and fiancée, James, big sister “Sissy” Carol Danner Lowe and brother-in-law Mitch Lowe, along with her sisters-in-law Linda Benner, Jody Thornton and Judy (Jack) Davis and many nieces and nephews.

Susan will be greeted in Heaven by many loved ones with loving open arms, including: her true love, Lester who she never stopped missing; parents, William “Bill” and Joann Danner; brother David W. Danner; brothers-in-law, Michael W. Paul, David Benner and John Thornton and in-laws Odell Pershing and Wilma G. “Jackie” Jackson-Nettleship; beloved grandparents, Horatio and Echo Allen; nephew, Robbie Davis and niece, April Benner and special friends along with her very spoiled and loved dogs – Benji, Toby and Andy.

Per Susan’s request, a private family burial will be held at Salem Cemetery. Tanzyus Logan Funeral and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Decatur-Macon County Humane Society or St. Judes Research Hospital in her honor.

The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Carle Hospital especially Dr. Nicolas Rawson, Dr. Elio Jabra, Dr. Roxanne McMillan and Dr. Caryn Hernandez. Your humanity and kindness will always be remembered.
