Timothy “Timmy” Wayne Berner, age 41, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 5:20 pm in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.\nThere will be a celebration on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Decatur Club, Decatur, Illinois. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting with arrangements.\nTimmy was born in March of 1977 in Decatur, the son of Linda Judy (Smith) and Steven C. Smith. He graduated from Lovington High School, was a CNA at various Sullivan and Mattoon nursing homes, worked as a banquet captain at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel, and as an assembler at Caterpillar, Inc.\nHe is survived by his partner Jarrod Cox from October 2014 until his death; father, Steven C. Smith; dad, Mike Berner; all brothers and sisters – Patty Coburn, Micheal Pitts, Chrissy Shoemaker, Chastity Foster, Johnny Smith, Ryan Berner, Ben Berner and Brianna Smith; four nieces -- Taylor Foster, Lauren Foster, Jazmine Coburn, Cambrie Smith; four nephews – Zack & AJ Coburn and Blake & Brady Foster.\nTimmy was preceded by his mother, Linda Judy (Smith); grandparents and two uncles.\nHis favorite things were dancing, singing and living life to the fullest. His favorite song was “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler. He had an addictive personality and was stubborn and funny.
