Vanessa (Nessa) A. Howard, 55 of Decatur, passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.

A family led memorial service to celebrate Vanessa’s life will be held at a later date. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting with the arrangements.

She was born in September of 1969, the daughter of Gene and Darlene (Bohm) Barnes. Vanessa was a homecare provider and enjoyed her work. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend always there with a smile on her face ready to crack a joke. Nessa spent her free time being with family, cooking homemade meals and cleaning everything around her, or showing her creative side by making skirts out of jean shorts which her sister Olivia loved to wear. She will be remembered most for her loving and caring personality, her sense of humor and homestyle cooking. Vanessa will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son Nashari Boyd, sisters Kathy Liming, Collette Thomas, and Olivia Mudd, brothers Roy Liming, Fred Mudd, and Aaron Mudd, granddaughters Laniyah and Aaliyah Boyd, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by her mother, sister and brother.
