Virgil Edward “Bud” Day, passed away April 27, 2017 at McKinley Court Care Center in Decatur, IL.\nPrivate family services will be held. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek with Military Honors by the Macon County Honor Guard. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nVirgil was born in October of 1931 in Decatur, IL, son of Samuel J. and Lucy Della Day. He married Eunice Louise Newlin in September of 1956 and they shared 60 years together.\nVirgil served in the Navy for 2 years and the Air Force for 4 years. He retired from the Sheet Metal Local 218 after 35 years of employment. Virgil loved to hunt rabbit and squirrel. He enjoyed fishing and metal detecting with his wife. In his spare time he would make things out of wood. He would also spend hours watching birds and squirrels. He liked to play pool and talk on the CB Radio.\nVirgil is survived by his wife, Eunice “Louise” Day, children, Becky (Mark) Medlock and Dennis Day of Decatur and David Borders, grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Mellott, Casey Medlock of Decatur, Zachary (Alicia) Day of Mt. Zion, Anthony Day of Staunton and Callie Day of Florida,2 great grandkids and sisters, Elnora Harlin of Decatur and Doris Tomlinson of Georgia, also his beloved dog Angel.\nHe was preceded in death by his son, Edward Eugene Day, parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
