William York

William "Ray" York, 78 of Long Creek, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at 9:40 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 29, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Zion. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery Long Creek, IL. Memorials may be made to the York Family Fund C/O The Staley Credit Union. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born in May of 1928 in Decatur, son of Hugh W. and Lura Belle Roberts York. Ray married Gloria Pauline Ames June 4, 1950. he was employed at Staley's for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Becky York of Assumption, sons Barry of Minnesota, Brian of Decatur, and Brad of Long Creek, brother Jim of Long Creek and sister Sue Durand of Decatur, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 3 great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
