A Memorial Service Celebrating Raymond’s Life

Raymond Harold Kramer, born December 31, 1941, passed away on May 1, 2020 at 1:38 pm. He was 78 years old and resided in Decatur, Illinois.
There will be a Memorial Service and a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Day Community Church (4191 N. Greenswitch Road, Decatur, IL) with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service & Care is assisting with arrangements.
Raymond was a graduate of MacArthur High School, upon graduation enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. Raymond served during the Cuban Missile Crisis off the coast of Cuba. Upon discharge from the Marine Corps, Raymond met and married Nancy L. Friesner in 1966.
Raymond retired from AE Staley Manufacturing Company. After retirement, he continued his work as a laborer for many years. In his free time, he was dedicated to scouting having earned the Explorer Silver Award and other miscellaneous awards throughout his 50+ years in scouting. Raymond enjoyed helping bring kids up through scouting on the journey to Eagle Scout with Troop 202.
Raymond enjoyed spending time with family and reading books. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. Raymond was the best husband, father and grandfather the family could ever ask for.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father Elmer E. Kramer; mother Rena L. Kramer; older brother Laverne Kramer; sister Linda Logan. He is survived by his wife Nancy of 53 years; son Raymond J. Kramer, wife Kandice; son Gerald W. Kramer and wife Tamela; three grandchildren Zachary R. Kramer and fiancé Destiney Dickson; Brittany N. Kramer and fiancé Andrew Henderson; Brandon W. Kramer. Surviving brothers and sisters are Wanda L. Poisel; Mary Aukamp and spouse Charles; Sherman Kramer and spouse Carol. Also surviving are his brother-in-laws David C. Friesner; William “Bill” Friesner and spouse Chris with many nieces and nephews as well as Raymond’s lifelong childhood friend James R. Markham and close friend James Livasy. Raymond was well known as “Uncle Ray” or “Dad” to many of his son’s friends in particular Eric Wilder, Brian Brettl and many more.
The family would like to thank Raymond’s primary care physician Dr. Dennis J. Rademacher and the staff of Springfield Clinic; Dr. Perry P. Guaglianone; the staff at Cancer Care and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital with special thanks to Mandy and Dr. Mike in ICU.
