Lois was born in November of 1927 in a two story farm house in Oakley, Illinois, daughter of Roy George and Elsie Minerva Preston. She was employed at R&C as a waitress, FW Means, and the General Electric as an assembler, which is where she retired from. After retirement she enjoyed free time with her grandchildren who spent many weekends at grandma and grandpa’s where slumber parties and many activities for the grandchildren were held. Lois was an active member of Life Foursquare Church teaching the five year old Sunday school class with Mary and Shirley Carter for many years. Lois married Simon Junior Harris in February of 1946. She was well known as the best pie maker in the whole world, by many people. Lois and Simon enjoyed and traveled with many of their close friends from the church to Gospel Sings.

Surviving are her three daughters, Sandy Deadmond of Decatur, Illinois, Judy Perkins of Mt. Zion, Illinois, and Sherry (Brad) Lindquist of Divernon, Illinois, siblings, Wini Stocks of Morton, Illinois, Bert Long of Decatur, Illinois, Wayne (Dorma) Preston of Washington, Utah, and Jean Scheuermann of Monticello, Illinois, grandchildren, Jeffrey (Alice) Hoots of New Port Richey, Florida, Maxwell (Shannon) Hoots of Decatur, Illinois, Rob (Lisa) Perkins of Decatur, Illinois, Jenny (Tom) Tripp of Decatur, Illinois, and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Shirley Anne Pruitt, sons-in-law, Rick D. Perkins and Gary D. Deadmond.

Lois was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and will be truly missed. She always had plenty of food, baked goodies, pastries and loved having friends over after church.

The family wishes to thank the DMH Hospice team for the care given her to keep her comfortable.
