Tommy was born in March of 1955, in Decatur Illinois son of Robert R. Bennett and Margret Bennett. Tommy attended SDHS and worked at Bob’s/Atlas Lock Shop for over 50 years. Tom began driving stock cars at the age of 15. Tommy raced all over the Midwest including his home track Macon Speedway and throughout his racing career he earned the name “Tom the Bomb”. After his racing career he became a promoter of Cerro Gordo Speedway and Coles County Speedway. In 2015 he met Pam Young who he married on March 2nd, 2022, in Las Vegas at the Little Church of the West. To say the least, he was a social butterfly with an ornery sense of humor. He loved his family time, racing and his pets. Tommy is expecting his first great grandchild Presley Diane Oakleaf in April. Tommy will be truly missed by many.
