Wilber M. Stukins, 92, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 3:50 pm. at Symphony of Decatur. His family was by his side.
A Funeral Service to Celebrate Wilbur’s Life will be at Maranatha Assembly of God Church, Tuesday morning, January 17, 2017 beginning at 10 am. A visitation with his family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, also at the church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials in his honor to Maranatha Church.
Wilbur was born in June of 1924 to Horace and Ella Stukins. He proudly served in the United States Army. He married Phyllis Boland-Fournier in November of 1948 in Decatur. He worked at Hopkins Grocery in Decatur before his own business, Stukins and Sons Construction. He built Maranatha Church.
Wilbur is survived by his wife Phyllis Stukins of Decatur, Pam Lanter of Monticello, Kathy (Jerry) Taylor of Sacramento, California, Gary (Vicky) Stukins, Danny (Sandy) Stukins, Russell Stukins, Doug (Lea) Stukins, Chris (Larry) Moore, Susan (Jason) Pryde, all of Decatur, David (Kathy) Stukins, Bill Stukins both of Peoria, and Tom Stukins of Bloomington; 29 Grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, a granddaughter, Jamie, grandson, Josh and a great-granddaughter, Anastasia.
His family would like to thank the staff of Symphony of Decatur and DMH Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him.
He loved the Lord, the Cubs and his family.
