William “Bud” C. Akers passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:50 pm at home with his family by his side. Born in November of 1935, he was the son of William Melvin Akers and Thelma (Pettyjohn) Akers. Bud worked at PPG Industries from 1959-2002 prior to his retirement. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.
Bud married Wanda Lee Farmer in January of 1959; she preceded him in death on December 1, 2007. Together they had one son, Christopher P. Akers.
Bud loved to sit outside watching for black birds, listening to his scanner, and could tell what the weather was doing or going to do.
He leaves behind his son, Chris Akers and daughter in law, Kris (Alexander) Akers of Dalton City; granddaughter, Rachel (Akers) Butcher and husband Kevin Sr. of Decatur; grandson, Cody Akers of Dalton City; five great grandchildren, Adrianna, Madylin, Journey, Jordyn, and Kevin Jr.; brother, Gary Akers of Decatur; sisters, Sue Tyler of Webster Grove, Missouri, and Helen Mustell (Akers) and husband, Bob, of Louisana, Missouri.
He was preceded by his wife, Wanda L. Akers; parents, Melvin & Thelma Akers, and brother, Glen Akers.
Per Bud’s request, there will be no services held.
