Misty Michelle Maple-Arndt, 47, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 12:05 pm in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no funeral services. There will be a private family gathering at a later day. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.

Misty was born In July of 1971, in Decatur, Illinois to Ronald and Carolyn Maple.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy; her children – Hillary (Ben) Summers of Decatur, Illinois, Austin Davis of Decatur, Illinois, Savarra Davis; and her mother, Carolyn Maple of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; brothers, Gene Maple of Florida, Steven Maple of Mahomet, Illinois, Bryan (Christina) Maple of Cerro Gordo; sister, Melissa Gollahon-Maple (Jen) of Decatur, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kylie, Ben Jr., Gabriel, Jayden, and Xavier, with a sixth grandchild, Sophia, arriving soon. There are also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews that survive.

Misty was preceded in death by her father, Ron Maple, Sr.; both sets of grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Gary Wesley McKinney 1944-2018

Gary Wesley McKinney passed away August 7, 2018 in the comfort of home. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 10 at 1 pm at Friends Creek Campground followed by a graveside service at Friends Creek Cemetery. Tanzyus-Logan is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Friends Creek Campground or National Brain Tumor Association.

Gary was born in October of 1944, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Elva Austin Holman and Jack W. Holman. Gary was adopted by his aunt and uncle Mabel and Harold McKinney. Gary was raised on a farm and was a graduate of Argenta-Oreana High School. Gary was a Vietnam veteran having served in the US Army, 37th Signal Battalion. Gary was a senior storehouseman at the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant, retiring in 2000. He loved camping, tractors, and his chorkie, Amigo.

Gary is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Marilyn; sons Mark (Rachael) McKinney and Eric (Michelle) McKinney, and daughter Marleah McKinney; grandchildren: Sierra, Raven, Jensyn, Hannah, Maya, Katie, and Jack. Gary was preceded in death by his son, Kevin.

Bruce Denton Ball 1958-2018

Bruce Denton Ball, 60, of Decatur died at 3:20 am Sunday, August 5, 2018 in St. Mary’s Hospital.

A celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and C

Bruce was born in Decatur in January of 1958, son of Jay and Jeanette Bruce. He owned and operated Bruce’s Place Restaurant in Moweaqua, Illinois for twenty years, where he made many friends. Bruce was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

Surviving are his mother, Jeanette Ball, sisters, Kelly Garber of Decatur, Bethaine Hunter of Supply, North Carolina, nephews, Garrett (Shelby) Garber, Brycen Garber, Christian Hunter, nieces, Allison Hunter, Kyleigh Garber and many cousins and aunts, best friends, Jack Waite and his family, Steve and Brett Steinkamp.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father in 1998.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff and doctors of the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital for the compassionate care given to Bruce.

Carole Kay Keirl 1942-2018

Carole Kay Keirl, 76, of Decatur died at 2:50 am. Sunday, August 5, 2018 in her home following a lengthy battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Funeral service to celebrate Carole’s life will be held 11:00 am. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1 Bachrach Court Decatur, Illinois 62526). Visitation will be 5:00 pm. To 7:00 pm. Wednesday August 8, 2018 also at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Carole was born in January of 1942 in Jacksonville, Illinois daughter of C. Dale and Lois M. Williams. She married Russell C. Keirl in July of 1961 at Salem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville and he survives.

Carole was a 1959 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She and her family moved to Decatur in 1980 and opened a small print shop, Print n Copy, which her husband and son still operate. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Salem Lutheran Church Jacksonville, and was a former member of Our Redeemer Jacksonville. She was currently a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran of Decatur, where she was active in Choir and Stephen Ministry.

She is survived by husband Russell, sons, Russell Scott (Sam) Keirl of Makanda and Douglas Todd Keirl of Decatur, grandsons, Ryan Tyler (Whitney) of Cerro Gordo, Chad Russell Keirl of Decatur, great granddaughter, Ryleigh Morgan Keirl of Cerro Gordo, sister, Deanna Dale Beem of Cadillac, Michigan, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all referred to her as Aunt Kay, and former daughter-in-law Diane Keirl of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her sister Judy Long who succumbed to the same illness Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and a nephew, Hollis Keith Long in infancy.

Tony Blaine Bracken 1962-2018

18077 Tony Blaine Bracken, 55, of Wheat Ridge Colorado (formerly of Decatur, Illinois), passed away in his home on July 27, 2018.

A private funeral service was held at Friends Creek Cemetery to celebrate the life of Tony on August 3, 2018.

Tony was born November 1962 in Decatur Illinois to Donald D. Bracken and Marilyn J. Bracken. Tony graduated from Lakeview High School in 1980 and completed a four year apprenticeship in the Sheet Metal Workers Local 218D, achieving journeyman status.

In 1989 Tony relocated to the beautiful state of Colorado. He truly enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the Rocky Mountains and spending time with his beloved dogs Ming and Rocky. While in Colorado, he made many new friends and they all enjoyed outdoor activities and taking in the majestic scenic views. Tony was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Chicago Bears. Tony was a car and truck enthusiast and loved the rumble of his HEMI engines especially his Harley’s.

Tony was so thankful for all the help from his Mom and Dad during his battle with cancer that words could not express how grateful he was.

Tony is survived by his parents, Don and Marilyn of Mechanicsburg, brother, and sister-in-law, Craig Bracken (Lisa) of Illiopolis and niece, Kelly Bracken of Niantic.

Tony was an amazing son, brother and uncle and he will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him.

Raymond D. Hall 1938-2018

18078 Raymond D’Wayne “Ray” Hall, 80 of Decatur died in his residence on Sunday July 29, 2018 at 11:31 am. with his family by his side.

A funeral service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 am. Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church (2727 North Union Boulevard Decatur, Illinois 62526) with Pastor Adam Ray officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service also at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Community Fund. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Ray was born in April 19, 1938 in Cornell, Wisconsin the son of Victor and Hazel Hall. He worked as a reel builder for Essex Wire Company. Ray was a faithful volunteer with the Northeast Community Fund for many years. He was awarded the HSAC volunteer of the year award in. In December of 1963 he married Kathleen and they shared over fifty-four years together.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, daughters, Tina Hall (Judge), Karen Hall, son, Mark Hall (Rachel), seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Leona Hall, grandson, Joshua Hall and brother, Leroy Hall.

Don Edward Lake II 1976-2018

18075 Don Edward Lake II, 42, of Decatur died Monday, July 16, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 1:00 pm. Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Boiling Springs Cemetery. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Don was born February of 1976 in Decatur, Illinois the son of Don E. and Sharon E. Lake. Don “Donny” was a very easy going laid back kind of person who enjoyed and lived life to its fullest despite his health limitations.

He leaves not to mourn but to cherish his mother, Sharon Lake, his sisters, Lisa Allen and Donnae Lake, nieces, Brianna Thompson and Rikiyia Larsen, nephews, Larry Benton, Brycton Curry and Michel Tillman, and great-nephews Kayden Thompson and Dexter Benton, and a host of relatives and friends.

Waiting to greet him in Heaven are his father Don Lake and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Special thanks to John Tennyson, Todd Hayes and Josh Rash. Also to everyone who showed us love and support in our hour of need we thank you.

There will be a special Memorial Service at a later date.

Stuart A. “Stu” Wolken 1934-2018

Stuart A. “Stu” Wolken, 83, of Oreana, Illinois departed to be with Jesus from his residence on Friday, July 20, 2018.

A funeral service to celebrate Stu’s life will be at 11:00 am. Thursday, July 26, 2018 in St. John’s Lutheran Church (2727 North Union Boulevard Decatur, Illinois 62526). Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am. Thursday also at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Church, to The Northeast Community Fund or to The New Life Pregnancy Center. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Stu was born in Decatur in September of 1934 the son of Rollie R. and Nettie E. Wolken. He graduated from Decatur High School. Stu served in the U.S. Army 1954 to 1956. He was Plant Manager at A.E. Staley MFG. retiring in 1992. During his time at Staley’s he was a member of the Instrument Society. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Stu married Ileane Miller in February of 1955 and she preceded him in death in June of 2012.

Surviving are his daughter, Susan Reuben of Oreana, grandson, Michael (Cacee) Reuben of Edmond, Oklahoma, granddaughter, Sarah (Quentin) Jordan of Argenta, great grandsons, Tristan and Kaden Jordan and great granddaughter, Lilana on the way, special sisters-in-law, Edie and Esther, special friend and fishing buddy, Ron Junior.

He was preceded by his parents, wife, brothers, Ralph and George Wolken and sister, Florence Kubow.

Stu loved his family and the Lord, hunting, fishing and shooting were his passions. He was a wonderful dad, and very special grandpa to Michael, Sarah and the great grandkids. He will be deeply missed.

Robert Peck 1932-2018

Robert Peck, 86, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 15,2018 at 11:00 pm at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, Illinois.

A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be Friday morning, July 20^th at 10:30 am at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (2055 South Franklin Street Road) in Decatur. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm, and one hour before service time, also at the church. Burial will follow at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Bob was born in February of 1932, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of John Hugh and Verna Elizabeth Peck. He grew up in Decatur along with his six brothers and four sisters. Bob attended several elementary schools in Decatur and was a 1950 graduate of Decatur High School. He worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Decatur for fifty years. Bob loved his job and the many friends he made as he brought his customers their mail, a smile, and a positive attitude every day. Bob loved family gatherings. He was a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan and especially enjoyed watching the Big Red Machine teams of the 1970’s. Bob played slow pitch softball until the age of 70. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the U.S. Postal Service Labor Union, Branch #317.

Bob married Mary Lou Shearer in November of 1953. He married Nancy White in February of 1984. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughters Bobbi (Barry) Edwards, Terri (Rick) Hinton, all of Decatur, and Sarah (Ed) Irwin of Cape Coral, Florida, grandchildren Jeff Kresse, of Denver, Colorado, Jason (Sarah) Kresse of North Baltimore, Ohio, Matthew Edwards of Decatur, and Collin and Kiera Irwin of Cape Coral, Florida, great grandchildren Ryleigh, Bryson, and Ella Kresse of North Baltimore, Ohio, brothers Richard (Marilyn) Peck of Cookeville, Tennessee, James (Susie) Peck of Decatur, and sister Patty Warnick, of Monticello, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Hugh, Jack William, Vern, and Tom, and sisters Mary Jordan, Shirley Price, and Janet Keenan.

Bob will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Patricia Kay “Patty” Kelley, 60 of Boody, Illinois died at 7:30 am. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in her home.

A memorial service to celebrate Patty’s life will be 10:00 am. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at First Christian Church (3350 North MacArthur Road Decatur, Illinois 62526). The family will receive friends one hour before at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Patty’s honor to the church or Cancer Specialist of Illinois. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Patty was born in June of 1958 in Decatur daughter of Joseph Lee and Janet Ann Eller. She married Paul F. Kelley Jr. in April of 1978. Patty worked for Archer Daniels Midland Co., (ADM) for forty years until her illness prevented her to continue (missing her co-workers daily). Patty enjoyed time with her family, adult coloring, and her church family.

Surviving are her husband of forty years, Paul, daughter, Jessica Kelley of Decatur, grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Temple, Jenna Lee Temple and Karlee Maxine Boyer all of Decatur, sisters, Becky (Brent) Stevenson of Decatur, Marcia Eller of Mattoon, Susan (Tony) McCay of Decatur, Julie (Perry) Welker of Oreana, brothers, Joe (Marcia) Eller of Yukon, Oklahoma., Ken (Dawn) Eller of Warrensburg, several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Jean (Doug) Burger of Dalton City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Linda Shull and her husband Mel Shull.
